FCTA awards $61,796 to help promote events

On December 11, 2023, The Fernley Convention and Tourism Authority board convened at City Hall to hear presentations from 12 Fernley CTA grant applicants, for grant awards in the first round of funding for January through June 2024. Many interesting proposals were brought before the board, ranging from rodeos to softball tournaments. The Fernley CTA is pleased to announce $61,796 in grant funds awarded this cycle to the following recipients:

§ The Altruistic American – $3,000 for the Kinfolk Valentines Dance.

§ Fernley ACES – $10,900 for multiple special events.

§ Fernley Jr High & High School Rodeo – $10,200 for a High School Rodeo.

§ Fernley Chamber of Commerce – $4,500 for the Celebrating Success Gala.

§ BGCTM serving Fernley – $5,600 for the First Annual Fundraiser.

§ 101.3 Biggest Little Radio – $1,100 for a Community Wide Easter Egg Hunt.

§ Main Street Fernley – $2,100 for Wine & Cheese/Poker Walks.

§ Fernley Softball Little League – $4,160 for softball tournaments.

§ Nevada Veterans Coalition – $5,700 for Memorial Day 2024.

§ Fernley/Wadsworth Lions Club – $3,200 for a multicultural event.

§ Battle Born Rangers – $3,736 for Roop County Days.

§ Fernley Fourth of July Committee – $7,600 for the July 4th event.

The Fernley CTA was established in 2011 with the objective to distribute funds from collected Transient Lodging Taxes to special event organizers to better promote tourism in Fernley. These grants are intended to be seed money to foster the development of special events which will bring people to Fernley and stay in local hotels, shop at local businesses, eat at local restaurants and fuel up at local stations.
