East Valley students raise more than $1,100 per lap for Apex Fun Run

East Valley Elementary School students raised more than $1,100 per lap for the Apex Fun Run held April 26 at the school.

The event began with the Kickoff Assembly April 17, and for the past week, APEX team members Powerful Pip, Tricky Trent and Kit Kat Kay visited classrooms and brought some fun hands on leadership lessons.

The theme this year was UNITED. Each day the students participated in a lesson based on the theme.

Last year’s Fun Run was to raise money to install a running track at the school, and the track is scheduled to be installed this summer.

Money from this year’s event will be going toward new technology for the school to benefit students, as well as to help fund PTA events.

The students exceeded their goal of raising $800 per lap and will be rewarded with a Magic Show on June 1 featuring Justin Impossible. The top 20 earners will also receive a special gift from the magician.

For the second year in a row Cody Price was the top earner. Last year Cody raised $1,200, and he was hoping to beat his goal this year. This year he raised $1,900. This means he got more than $60/lap in pledges, which earned him the top prize of the Crazy Cart.
