The driver of a recreational vehicle was arrested and eastbound Interstate 80 was closed for several hours Monday morning and afternoon after troopers from the Nevada State Police stopped the RV and found several illegal firearms and what they termed devices with the potential for danger.
At 9:14 a.m. Monday Troopers stopped the RV near Mile Marker 43 in Washoe County. After finding the weapons and other devices, they called in the Consolidated Bomb Squad, a unit comprised of specialists from multiple law enforcement agencies. The Bomb Squad secured the area and neutralized the threat from the devices.
The person arrested was Kirkland Orlando Rowe, who was booked into the Washoe County Jail on charges related to possession of illegal firearms and other offenses while they continue to investigate the incident.
