The Nevada Department of Transportation will begin construction on nearly a mile of sidewalk on the south side of Main St.
NDOT crews recently began surveying the area between Hardie Ln. and 7th Street to gather full survey data in advance of construction. NDOT spokesperson Meg Ragonese said construction is anticipated to begin in mid-summer and will wrap up this year.
Roadway curbing and sidewalk ramp improvements will also be made.
Ragonese said the project will ultimately add sidewalk in areas where there is none to create a continuous walkway connecting from the U.S. 95A junction to the Fernley roundabout and make this section of Main Street more safe and accessible for all.
The project is anticipated to cost approximately $750,000 and is funded by NDOT.
