Commission candidate Wagner ends campaign

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

Although his name still appears on the ballot, Lyon County Commission candidate Cody Wagner has ended his campaign and is supporting his opponent, Rob Jacobson.

Wagner tried to withdraw from the ballot in July, but was prevented because as a nonpartisan candidate, he was required to file a petition in order to run, and it cannot be withdrawn.

He said that he probably would not have run for the office if had known Jacobson was going to run.

“At this point, it just didn’t make sense to run a full campaign against a friend of mine when I know he would do a good job in the position,” Wagner said.
