City seeking to fill vacancy on Senior Citizen Advisory Committee

The City of Fernley is accepting applications from residents of Fernley to fill a vacancy on the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee. There is one open seat on the committee

The purpose of the committee is to advise the City Council on matters relating to senior citizens; to provide an informational resource to senior citizens on matters of concern to senior citizens; and to promote programs for the benefit of senior citizens.

The Senior Citizen Advisory Committee consists of five members, each serving two year terms.

Members serve and advise the City Council on matters relating to senior citizens, to promote and support senior-oriented special events and collaborative efforts that meet the needs of seniors, and to serve as an advocacy body on behalf of older adults in the community.

The Committee meets on the second Friday of the month, at least quarterly. There may also be requirements to attend other subcommittee meetings or volunteer at special events to promote the committee.

To apply, contact the City at 775-784-9830 or email [email protected] or you can submit the form on the City's website. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m.  Sept. 2.
