Carol Del Carlo sworn into office for Board of Regents District 9

On Sunday Dec. 4, Carol Del Carlo was sworn into office to represent the Nevada System of Higher Education, Board of Regents District 9. The ceremony was officiated by the Honorable Judge Steve Elliott.

Carol Del Carlo ran in District 9, which represents seven different Nevada counties: Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Esmeralda, Lander, Lyon, Mineral, Storey and Washoe (partial). Carol worked relentlessly meeting with voters across the district during the campaign to understand their concerns and desires for the higher education system.

“The Nevada System of Education is in a pivotal position as we prepare the next generation of for the workforce. As Nevada continues to diversify, we must understand the needs of the business community and the necessary skills needed,” said Carol Del Carlo. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Board of Regents in supporting all institutions within the Nevada System of Higher Education and the importance that it plays in support of their economic issues. Carol’s work ethic and drive to better the higher education system for Nevada was the key to her ability to come out on top.

Carol is a native Nevadan with deep roots in Reno, previously a Guidici. Carol earned her degree from the University of Nevada, Reno where she met her husband George Del Carlo. Carol had a long career with General Motors in the Human Resources area. Carol, now retired, is focused on bettering our higher education to meet the needs of all Nevadans. With a growing Northern Nevada community, Carol wants to insure there are enough opportunities for the growing student population.
