Victims identified in plane crash south of Pyramid Lake

The two people killed in a small plane crash south of Pyramid Lake last Thursday have been identified, according to a story in the Idaho Statesman.

The victims were identified as former Gem County Commissioner Lan Smith and his wife Pam.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded about 12:20 p.m. last Thursday to a call of a small aircraft that had gone missing.

KTVN reported the plane left South Tahoe at 9:30 a.m. for Nampa, Idaho and crashed at 10 a.m. in a steep ridge of mountainous terrain at an elevation of 11,000 feet, southwest of Nixon.
