The Carson City Health and Human Services Quad County Emergency Operations Center reported one possible COVID-19 reinfection in the Quad-County region, as well as 11 new cases and six recoveries Friday.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines a reinfection as someone who was infected once, recovered, and then become infected again 90 or more days after the first positive result. The reinfected person first tested in June then again in October, which meets the 90-day period.
No information was provided about the new cases.
There have been 664 total cases in Lyon County, 59 of them currently active, with 591 recoveries and 14 deaths.
As of its most recent update at 6 p.m. Nov. 7, 257 total cases have been reported and 20 cases are active in the 89408 zip code, according to Carson City Health and Human Services and the Quad-County EOC. There have now been 2,016 total cases, 1,790 recoveries and 26 deaths in the Quad-County region.
