The Fernley Port of Subs made a donation of $1.143 to the Fernley High School volleyball program this week.

The money came from the Port of Subs grand reopening celebration event on Aug. 30, where the restaurant donated half of all sales from that day to the volleyball team. Last Thursday, Port of Subs management presented the check to the volleyball team.

“Port of Subs  went above and beyond with hosting and setting up the fundraiser to support FHS Volleyball,” Fernley coach Zach Wilhelm. “We are very grateful for the donation from Port of Subs and look forward to continuing our partnership throughout the season and years to come.”

Port of Subs Franchise Marketing Consultant Rich Crombie said the store wants to help the local community and give back through fundraising for schools, veterans, seniors, etc.

“Our goal at Port of Subs is to always be involved with the community and give back when we can,” Crombie said. “Hopefully moving forward, we can assist other charities or organizations with similar events.”

He said the store is planning to do another fundraiser night on Sept 27 to benefit the Nevada Veterans Coalition and give them a check at the Silverado Car Show on the 30th.
