Man charged with burglary at Raley’s

A man who sheriff’s deputies say was living in the rafters of the Raley’s Supermarket in Fernley was arrested Wednesday on burglary charges.

Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies and North Lyon County firefighters were called to Raley’s Wednesday morning after the suspect fell through the ceiling. An LCSO report says the man, Matthew Hammar, had snuck into the rafters and was living there, and had been stealing food from the deli. Sheriff’s deputies and a K9 were called to the scene The dog became stuck , but firefighters and deputies were able to rescue the dog and apprehend the suspect. The dog was not injured in the incident.

Hammar was arrested on charges of burglary and obstructing a police officer.
