Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

North Lyon County Fire Protection District Chief Jason Nicholl and Central Lyon County Fire Protection District Chief Rich Harvey will be the guest speakers for the next meeting of the Fernley Republican Women on Feb. 21.

The meeting will be at the Fernley High School. A light meal will be served at 6 p.m. and the meeting will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. Nicholl and Harvey will speak about plans for using the money generated by the passage of the fire protection districts questions 1 on the November 2022 ballot. The public is always invited to attend.

Nicholl was born and raised in the Salt Lake City area. A ninth-generation firefighter—his family has worked in fire since 1867–he retired from the South Salt Lake City Fire Department in 2019 as the Medical Division Chief and began his career with North Lyon Fire on July 1, 2019. Nicholl has a Master of science in fire and emergency management administration from Oklahoma State University; a Bachelor of science in behavioral science and health from the University of Utah; and associates of applied sciences degrees in fire science and emergency care and rescue.

Harvey is active in the academic community and as a speaker/presenter at many national, regional and local conferences and courses; has served on many boards and committees; and is President of the Northern Nevada Fire Chiefs Association.
