Fernley qualifies 8 boys, 6 girls for State Wrestling Meet

Fernley High School will be sending eight boys and six girls who qualified for the State Wrestling Meet, which will be held today in Bullhead City, Ariz.

The Vaqueros had four individual region champions, and both the boys and girls finished second in the team standings at their respective regional meets.

The girls finished second behind Reed in the NIAA All Girls Region Meet held at Reed Feb. 2 and 3.

Allison Borden won the 126-pound weight class by pinning Ava Parker of Spanish Springs in the championship match.

Sophie Workman finished second at 100 pounds, Shaylee Galvin placed second at 107 pounds, Nadera Muhammad placed second at 120 pounds, Ruby Barrett-Reese came in third at 132 pounds and Shaheerah Muhammad qualified by placing fourth at 114.

The boys finished second to Elko in the 3A North Region Meet held last weekend in Spring Creek.

Camron McMackin won the 106-pound class by pinning Pete Bengochea of Lowry. Nathan Pritchard beat Lonnie Adams of Fallon by a 13-2 decision to win the championship at 132 pounds and Riley McCullar was the 144-pound champion with an 11-3 decision over Chris Gildone of Lowry.

CJ Finley placed second at 126 pounds, Brody Jones placed second at 150 pounds, Anthony Robles took second at 165 pounds, Harley Denison came in second at 175, Teague Kenison was third at 150 pounds. Isaid Solis placed fifth at 132 and Isaiah Mutte placed fifth at 285.
