After both the boys and girls teams won last week’s season opening meet in Dayton, the Fernley High School cross country team is headed to compete in a meet in Fallon Tuesday.
Last Tuesday in Dayton, Myla Bott finished second for the girls team in 24:35, leading the Vaqueros to the win as a team.
For the boys, Dustin Boutell came in second with a time of 19:20 to head the group’s winning effort.
“All the kids ran really well,” coach Todd Wright said. “Just awesome to have a high school sporting event again after almost a whole year.”
The boys team is mostly made up of upperclassmen, while the girls team is one junior and the rest all freshman and sophomores.
Individual places weren’t available, but times for the Fernley runners were:
