The Nevada Veterans Coalition hosted a car wash last Saturday, July 22 at the 76 Station on Main St. to raise money for Wreaths Across America and a student World War II Western Front Tour.
The Veterans Coalition was raising funds toward the purchase of wreaths to be laid on every grave at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In addition, some of the funds will go toward the two-week educational tour of the World War II Western Front, including England, France, Germany and Austria.
This will be the second European tour for Fernley High School students arranged by teacher Tamaron McNeil.
“It’s important to let our students know that there is more out there than Fernley,” McNeil said.
So far, eight FHS students, plus chaperones, have signed up for the tour. The cost is approximately $5,000 per student and $5,700 per adult, including airfare, all food and lodging, all tickets for tours, etc.
