All three Fernley runners placed in the top 15 at the 3A State Cross Country Championships at Craig Ranch Park in North Las Vegas on Nov. 5.
Grace DeLeon had the best day among the Fernley runners, placing 8th with a time of 19:48, falling two places and three seconds short of her goal of winning a medal.
DeLeon ran 2:27 faster than her time at the Northern 3A Regional Championships, which was run on a muddy, hilly course at Shadow Mountain Park in Sparks, and was 10 seconds off her personal vest time, run Oct. 14 at Silver Stage on Oct. 14.
Piper Crook finished 10th and set her personal record with a time of 20:06, beating her regional meet time by 1:55.
In the boys race, Jonathan Roach finished 14th with a time of 17:15, beating his regional meet time by 1:34, and just 8 seconds off his personal best time, also set at Silver Stage on Oct 14.
