After taking last week off to be fresh for this week, the Fernley High School cross country team will run in the Northern 3A Regional meet Friday at the Shadow Mountain Regional Sports Complex in Sparks.
The 3A boys are scheduled to run at 10:30 a.m., with the 3A girls scheduled for 12:40 p.m.
The Vaqueros did not compete last week.
On Oct. 7, the Vaqueros ran at the Clovis Invitational at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif.
The boys team finished 24th out of 32 teams, while the girls placed 18th out of 29 teams.
“This is a very competitive meet and very difficult to get into,” coach Todd Wright said.
Individually, standouts for the boys team were Josh Kirk with a personal record of 17:21 (64th place out of 219) and Mason Tannehill with a time of 18:03, to finish in 106th place.

On Oct. 13, the Vaqueros ran at the Silver Stage Mach 5K.
“It was a small meet and a downhill meet so times were fairly fast,” Wright said.
He said Eric Rosales ran great and placed third with a time of 17:26. Liam Maldonado ran in 19:06 and Austin Carmack ran 19:13.
On the girls’ side, Piper Crook placed 2nd with a 19:24 and Stephanie Gaitan ran well with a 23:50.
