City to consider second round of funding to local businesses

With almost 60 percent of the money remaining, the City of Fernley is considering a second round of grants to small businesses affected by COVID-19.
The City had made $250,000 of the money it received from the CARES Act available to grant to local businesses that were forced to close by state restrictions in reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The City awarded 21 businesses $5,000 each, a total of $105,000, leaving $145,000 unawarded.
The Fernley Convention and Tourism Authority is scheduled to meet Wednesday to consider establishing a second round of grants with the remaining funds, as well as amending the eligibility requirements and setting a new deadline for applications.
