After going 1-4 in a tournament in Las Vegas last week, the Fernley High School softball team stepped back into league play with a 6-1 win over South Tahoe Thursday afternoon.
Hailee Edgar went 3-4 and scored two runs and Skylar Gothan drove in two runs to lead the Vaqueros, while McKenna Montgomery was the winning pitcher, allowing only one hit.
Last week the Vaqueros lost 4 of 5 games in the Spring Jamboree in Las Vegas, hosted by Centennial High School.
The Vaqueros lost 17-10 to Green Valley, 13-3 to Calexico (Calif.), 17-7 to Liberty and 13-12 to Birmingham (Lake Balboa, Calif.) before beating Pacheco (Los Banos, Calif.) 13-7 to finish the tournament.
