Six Lyon County COVID-19 cases, four recoveries reported Monday

The Carson City Health and Human Services Quad County Emergency Operations Center reported six new cases of COVID-19 and four recoveries in Lyon County Monday, part of a total of 25 cases and 18 recoveries over the weekend.

No information was provided about the new cases.

There have been 729 total cases in Lyon County, 67 of them currently active, with 648 recoveries and 14 deaths.

As of its most recent update at 6 p.m. Nov. 14, 279 total cases have been reported and 22 cases are active in the 89408 zip code, according to Carson City Health and Human Services and the Quad-County EOC. There were a total of 55 cases and 25 recoveries Monday in the Quad-County region, including 23 from the Warm Springs Correctional Facility in Carson City.

There have now been 2,219 total cases, 1,892 recoveries and 27 deaths in the Quad-County region.

Carson City Health and Human Services has announced a new phone number for the Quad-County COVID-19 Hotline. Starting Tuesday, Nov. 17 the phone number will be (775) 434-1988. The hotline is staffed Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The change is required to handle the volume of calls regarding questions about COVID and the number of people interested in being tested.

The Nevada COVID Task Force has notified Lyon County that they are to remain flagged for elevated COVID test positivity rates. In the Oct. 12 report, Lyon County saw a test positivity of 8.2 percent and has experienced an increase week after week since then. Today, Lyon County sits at a rate of 19.0 percent. County manager Jeff Page said Lyon County officials will begin the process of completing an assessment and action plan for the COVID Task Force and will present their report on Nov. 19.

Lyon County and the Cities of Fernley and Yerington have taken action to reduce the spread of COVID to employees and residents.

We can help by following these simple CDC recommendations and keep the spread of COVID and the Flu down thus reducing the impact to our hospitals.”
