Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is now implementing online reporting of certain crimes that do not require an immediate police response.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that this does not replace calls for service of crimes in progress. The past tense crimes accepted via online reporting are as follows:

  • Assault and battery
  • Child custody dispute
  • Financial crime
  • Harassment
  • Harassing phone calls
  • Non-injury and private property accidents
  • Illegal dumping
  • Lost property
  • Thefts that amount to less than $650
  • Suspicious activities
  • Identity theft
  • Neighborhood speed complaints

Those crimes can be reported at https://www.frontlinepss.com/lcsoreporting. The Sheriff’s Office will review the details of the report and respond accordingly. Users will first be directed to a disclaimer page. Once they have read and accepted the terms, they will be directed to a page to enter the incident details and personal contact information, The page offers a place to attach a photo, if necessary.
