IRG completes 5,000-foot rail track extension

Industrial Realty Group, LLC, one of the largest industrial real estate developers in the nation, announced it recently completed installation of an additional mile of rail track and improvements to the existing infrastructure at its 224-acre site in Fernley.

With the new extension of 5,000 feet, the site now includes over 7,000 linear feet of track.

“IRG’s investment expands the existing rail operations on site providing additional staging, storage and transloading areas. We’re preparing for immense growth,” said Justin Lichter, Vice President with IRG. “Our team has been in discussions with multiple tenants eager to join the site as we continue to expand our Western Nevada Transload business venture.”

As part of IRG’s strategic plan, Western Nevada Transload will operate on site and expand the company’s services. Western Nevada Transload will operate a full-service rail facility including switching, transloading and storage of multiple commodities.

“Western Nevada Transload is excited about the opportunities to continue to expand the rail park and its operations,” said Lichter.

The Fernley site, acquired by IRG in 2020, is located in both Lyon and Churchill counties at 11000 Reno Highway and sits along U.S. Highway 50. It is served by two Class 1 freight railroads: Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and BNSF Railway (BNSF).

The master plan also features development land for build-to-suit opportunities and outside storage/yard space, 24/7 rail transloading, and an existing switch with rail infrastructure. Also in place are necessary utilities and favorable zoning.
