In a busy week that saw them play five games, the Fernley High School girls basketball team collected three wins, and wound up in fourth place in the Windsor (Calif.) Tournament.
The Vaqueros started the week with blowout wins over Hug, 69-10, and South Tahoe, 66-34, in crossover games against Northern 3A West Division teams. Then in Windsor, the Vaqueros beat Napa (Calif.) 63-26, lost to Windsor 55-49 and finished the tournament with a 51-39 loss to Amador Valley (Pleasanton, Calif.). In addition, sophomore Jasmyne Torres was selected to the all-tournament team.
Stats for the last two games of the Windsor Tournament. Against Napa, Jennica Stephens led the Vaqueros with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Torres added 11 points and 10 assists.
Against South Tahoe, Torres had 16 points and six assists, Aly Sullivan added 13 points and Jaelece Wasson scored 12.
Against Hug, Wasson led the way with 22 points, while Torres added 13.
Next, the Vaqueros host Truckee Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Sparks Saturday at 1 p.m.
