Fernley girls reach State title game with 57-51 win over Pahrump

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

It’s one down, one to go for the Fernley High School girls basketball team at the 2020 NIAA/One Nevada State Basketball Championships.

The Vaqueros beat Pahrump 57-51 Thursday evening at Reno High School in the 3A state semifinals, and will face Truckee, a 38-26 winner over Moapa Valley in the other semifinal, at noon Friday at Lawlor Events Center.

Freshman Alizah Lara scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half, including consecutive 3-pointers in the fourth quarter that helped Fernley pull clear of the Trojans.
