The Fernley Reporter

Fernley Estates Senior Living and Memory Care, a Mission Senior Living community located in Fernley, presented a check for $375 to the Nevada Veterans Coalition in Fernley. The donation is 50 percent of the total move-in fees received during November and December 2018.

As part of its mission to give back to the community it serves, Fernley Estates Senior Living and Memory Care donated 50 percent of the community’s total move-in fees from November and December 2018 to a local veterans’ organization. The community’s team members and residents selected the Nevada Veterans Coalition in Fernley and presented a $375 check to Commander Brett Palmer.

The Nevada Veterans Coalition supports the Northern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery by organizing fundraising events, special site improvements, emergency equipment and supplies, volunteer labor and veterans’ awareness programs, as well as special events promoting public awareness about the facility and other commemorative event ceremonies.

According to Fernley Estates’ Administrator, Tara Alto, the donation aligns with the community’s mission of Caring People, Serving People, Improving Lives, both at Fernley Estates and within the local community.

“We owe the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy in our country to the service and sacrifice of our veterans,” explained Alto. “We’re privileged to have veterans living among us at Fernley Estates and everyone – our team members and residents – is proud to support this organization.”

Fernley Estates is one of five Mission Senior Living communities. Each community selected a local veterans’ organization to receive the donation and together they donated a total of $14,250.

“The people who live and work at our communities are cut from the same patriotic cloth. We are grateful to our nation’s heroes, and want to support organizations that help improve their lives,” said Darryl Fisher, president of Mission Senior Living. “Caring People, Serving People, Improving Lives is a mission that extends beyond our communities and into the neighborhoods we serve.”
