Fernley boys soccer beats Yerington

The Fernley High School boys soccer team opened its season Wednesday with a 6-4 win at Yerington.

Junior Dillon Peterson scored three goals for Fernley, senior Sam Wright scored two and sophomore Eric Rosales scored one.

“Very solid defense led by Jadan Rotton and Adrian Lara,” coach Erin Geil said. “Kyle Heimbruch and Sebastian Contreras moved the ball in the mid field.”

Next up for the Vaqueros are their first home games of the season, against West Wendover Friday at 5 p.m. and White Pine Saturday at 2 p.m.

Those two games begin a stretch of seven consecutive home games for the Vaqueros, who then play six straight on the road to finish the year.
