The Fernley 4th of July Fireworks are back on.

The City of Fernley and the Fernley 4th of July Committee have reached an agreement that will allow the committee to host a fireworks show.

The committee had announced on May 24 that it was canceling the annual 4th of July celebration because the city would not issue permits for the use of the Out of Town Park.

However, Mayor Roy Edgington, the City Council and the committee came to an agreement to allow the fireworks show to continue.

In order to comply with social distancing guidelines, parking will be spaced out with room between cars, the grass area of the Out of Town Park will be closed and off limits. Viewers will need to remain in or within arms length of their cars,

There will be a special VIP Parking area available. It will be located in the best viewing area and spots will be reserved. The cost for the VIP area is $25 per car. Proceeds will be used to supplement for next year’s event to help make up for lost revenue from this year. Those who sign up for a VIP spot will receive a SWAG bag, but only have 50 spots will be available. You can request and purchase a VIP spot by responding to the Facebook post an the Fernley 4th of July page.

Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m., depending on the wind. Listen to Biggest Little Radio 101.3 FM for updates.

In order to make the event possible, volunteers are needed. Anyone willing to help on July 3, 4 or 5 is asked to send a direct message to the Fernley 4th of July Facebook page.
