Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter
Following the recommendations by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Carson City Health and Human Services announced Tuesday it is pausing the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
The CDC and FDA on Tuesday announced it is investigating reports of dangerous blood clots and recommended a pause in using the vaccine,
CCHHS said it will be contacting those who have an appointment at a CCHHS vaccination event and offering them the Moderna vaccine instead. Anyone who does not wish to receive the Moderna vaccine will need to schedule another appointment. To cancel appointments or to reschedule, log into your appointment account at https://booking.appointy.com/en-US/quadcovidvaccine/bookings/service.
People who have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine who develop severe headache, abdominal pain, leg pain, or shortness of breath within three weeks after vaccination should contact their health care provider. Health care providers are asked to report adverse events to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System at https://vaers.hhs.gov/reportevent.html.
