Amtrak train hits cement truck near Derby Dam

Only minor injuries were reported after an Amtrak passenger train hit a cement truck Thursday morning near Derby Dam.

According to the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, TMFPD and Storey County Fire Department responded to a collision between an Amtrak train and cement truck. Two people were transported to a Reno hospital with minor injuries, and one was treated at the scene. The California Zephyr train coming from Chicago was not derailed, and was later able to travel into Reno.

The incident is under investigation.
